1 Corinthians 2:1-5, "And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 4, And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5, That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."
The gospel is not preached according to the wisdom of men but in the power of God. It is a mistake to bring in philosophy or deceitful ideas, the tradition of men, or the rudiments of the world into the preaching of the gospel. We need to decrease and get smaller, more humble and plain, and allow God to be glorified through the clear proclamation of the gospel.
Why would anyone try to preach to people with excellency of speech or wisdom? Why would someone's speech and preaching be with enticing words of man's wisdom? 2 Corinthians 11:14-15.
Father God, the gospel message is plain for all to hear and to understand. The Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, he was buried in a tomb, and on the third day he rose from the dead. His resurrection is proof that he is the Son of God. We have been redeemed through his blood and received the forgiveness of sins. Amen.
