1 Corinthians 2:13, "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual."
Paul clearly states here that he did not mix the wisdom of man with the gospel. He preached by the wisdom of the Holy Ghost, and not the wisdom of man. Discern between what is man-made (philosophy, psychology, psychiatry, self-help, man-centered counseling), and between what is of the Holy Ghost.
Some interpret the phrase "comparing spiritual things with spiritual" as meaning that the Bible interprets itself. However, even with this as a "rule" in Bible interpretation we still get it wrong if we are not being actively taught by the Holy Ghost. The heart of understanding the Bible is an active relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 John 2:27.
Father God, I thank you for giving your son. The Lord Jesus is our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification. He is everything we need. Lord, guide and direct our study of your word that we may be taught by the Holy Ghost and not by the systems of man. In Jesus name. Amen.
